good morning

A long but good day of travel yesterday. Got to see my good friend, Gab, and her kids in the Denver airport. Jacob had about ten minutes of shyness before he was right in the thick of it with all of them. Kids are so good about that. It was great to see them, even though the visit was short.

It was great to see my folks and my sister at the airport, all waiting excitedly for us. Jacob saw them all standing there smiling and waving and he paused and says, "Mommy, can you carry me?" But within moments he was his regular self, asking dozens of questions and leading Aunt Julie around looking at the baggage claim machine. When we got to the parents' house and stepped out of the car, I was excited to see the sky littered with stars. I forgot how many of those little lights I can see out here. I love it!

Jacob and I are bit whacked out by the time shift. It's 9:12 and Jacob is still asleep. Of course, he went to bed around 1:30am. Even on Portland time that's 10:30pm. I'm proud to say that I was actually the first one up around here. I even beat my mom, which is pretty hard to do. I did try to go back to sleep, but it wasn't happening this morning. A nap may be in my future today but for now, I'm enjoying the clear blue skies and beautiful country air.
